MIR-Jaw system with profiled master jaw
FORKARDT
is proud to present the latest innovation in workholding - in particular,
jaw technology: The quick-change jaw system MIR / WMB. This system
allows very fast and easy manual jaw changes without any additional
tools necessary. How is that possible? Well...
A special,
V-shaped profile on the master jaws provides an optimal seat for
the top jaws. This V-profile is either directly incorporated into
the master jaws, or bolted on top of a standard master jaw. Therefore,
any standard chuck can be equipped with the MIR-system, by simply
adding the intermediate jaw modul WMB. Also, the WMB system provides
another major advantage, as it allows MIR-top jaws to be used for
internal gripping as well.
One of
the most important performance features of the new system is the
very small amount of time required for changing the jaws.
Changing
one set of jaws takes less than 20 seconds !!!
Handling
the new system is also very easy: After pushing the top jaws on
to the profile, spring-loaded latches keep the jaws in position.
Under clamping conditions the top jaws will be pressed into the
V-shape without any movement possible.
Furthermore,
the open V-shaped profile can easily be cleaned thus reducing downtime
and inaccurate production due to wear or dirt.

Yet
another advantage for your manufacturing processes is the system's
accuracy:
Detailed
testing of the jaws under arduous working conditions, proved them
to give a much better repeatability than chucks with conventional
jaw systems. Even under most critical gripping criteria there are
no restrictions to the system.
A repeatability
of 0.02 mm can be achieved on a 400 mm diameter power chuck and
will be maintained under hard production circumstances.
