New Safety Standards That Might Affect You

Have you checked the gripping force of your chucks lately? If not, it might be high time you did. The European Committee for Standardization (CEN) recently presented the Final Draft of a new safety standard for the design and construction of workholding chucks, which is likely to impact on international safety requirements.

prEN 1550 regulates performance details, usage and safety of chucking devices. Specifically, it prescribes the use of static gripping force meters for checking the maintenance condition of your workholding equipment according to the manufacturer's service manual.
